individual case study

After KiDULTHOOD comes AdULTHOOD

Continuing on from Kidulthood, Adulthood is a about the youth of today, and how they handle growing up from teenagers to young adults, including going through experiences such as, college, uni, sex, drugs and violence. It helps to gain an in site to the involvement of the generation of young adults today.

The film can be ages at various age groups, but is mainly focused on teenagers/ young adults, aged 15-21. This is because they may be able to relate to the situations and events that take place. Also, due to the fact that the film high lites a lot of wrong turns that teenagers make in life, the film may influence them to do better and inspire them to do things differently. The film may even also appeal to an older age group such as parents, because the film allows them to acknowledge reality for young teens these days.

The trailer shows the main characters in the film, and they are young adults, this would attract other Young adults to watch the film. It opens with a girl talking about how she wanted to grow up when she was little, and there are a lot of girls that can relate to this, so this attracts them to the film.
You can tell from the language ( ghetto slang) that the characters use in the play, that they are young and have experienced life in a more middle/ working class way, this would attract others from the same class to the film, also young kids that use that sort of language would want to watch the film.
In the trailer you see short shots of scenes involving guns and violence, this is action code, it informs us that the film has action scenes in it, and because you only see a few seconds, you want to see more, this encourages the target audience to want to see the film.
In some shots, writing is used to inform you on what the film is about, this is good because it allows the viewer to concentrate on the trailer, and understand what is going on, also it gives an in site to what is going to happen in the film, and this is more encouragement to make people want to watch the film.
The lighting in the advert is verified. Majority of the time, it tends to be dark, this is so that it is obvious that the events taking place aren't light hearted, they are upsetting, and focus on the corrupted issues that the young adults go through. Lighting in the film, is used to create shadows on the actors faces, this is to cause suspense, and mystery to the scene, making you want to know what is going to happen.
